Sewage Planning and Management
Shoener Environmental provides sewage planning and management services by typically working with the site engineer to integrate our services into an overall sewage management program.
DEP sewage planning modules, such as components 2 or component 3 are prepared for private landowners. These planning documents must be prepared as the initial step in obtaining site development approval. Working with clients during the planning process, we assess the conditions of a site for land disposal of sewage. Methods for removal include either conventional septic systems or a more advanced land disposal method, such as spray irrigation. If a municipal sewer system is located near the site, we assist clients in determining the available capacity of the system and identify the tap-in requirements.
Our planning services include helping municipalities assess the status of existing on-lot sewage systems. We can conduct the sewage disposal needs identification study required by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). Door-to-door surveys to obtain the documentation necessary to support a municipal sewage management plan under Act 537 are also conducted.
